The Big Playground is an interactive art installation by designer Dan Goods (of NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory) that aims to visualize the size of the universe in a way that people can easily understand. If a grain of sand represents one galaxy, all the galaxies in the known universe would fill six rooms with sand. A miniscule hole drilled into one of the grains of sand represents the space in our own galaxy (the Milky Way) where humans have discovered planets. Awesome.
