I think religion is hindering the progress of humanity
Don’t get me wrong… Extremists aside, I think religion is great most of the time; it pulls people closer together, usually gives them a decent set of rules to live by, and is grasped by most as a reason to be good in general.
The thing is, many religions focus so much on praising some theistic form and preparing for the afterlife, that it pushes us to forget about life itself and the advancement of the human race. If we don’t do something about this (we could start by respecting the difference in belief of other people, and accepting that in the end we could ALL be wrong), soon enough we’ll all perish on this Earth, unable to continue the collective intelligence of our species.
I’d like you to take a moment and think about this, and realize how important the pursuit of truth is for our future.
